cfd cal 2022web

Getting ready for another celebration of all things film, the organisers of the Cyprus Film Days festival have announced a call for entries for its new edition. Scheduled for April 8 to 16, 2022, the Ministry of Education and the Rialto Theatre are now accepting applications for the 20th edition of the festival, with the last day for submitting being December 20.

Next April, the festival will host for the 12th consecutive year an international competition section titled Glocal Images, inviting fiction feature films from Cyprus and abroad to submit their works. A Cypriot Films Competition Section will also be held for films produced in 2020 and 2021.

Glocal Images International Competition Section

The Festival aims not only to broaden its appeal within its own borders, but also to attract both industry and audiences from abroad by becoming a cinematic meeting point for the three continents surrounding Cyprus. The international competition section Glocal Images welcomes films that voice the diversity of local cultures and contribute innovative representations of subject matters that can be addressed to an international audience.

The five-member international jury – to be announced at a later stage – will award the following prizes: Best Film accompanied by €6,000, the Special Jury Award accompanied by €3,000 and Best Director Award accompanied by €1,000.

Cypriot Films Competition Section

The international jury will award the following prizes to the films competing in the Cypriot Films Competition Section: Best Cypriot Film receiving €4,000 and Best Actor/Actress Award accompanied by €500, offered by Limassol Municipality.

The selection of films in competition is undertaken by a three-member Artistic Committee: Dr Costas Constantinides (Film Scholar), Tonia Mishiali (Director – Producer) and Marios Stylianou (Director – Producer).
