Anastasiades to visit Thessaloniki

President Nicos Anastasiades is to visit Thessaloniki, Greece to address on Monday an event for Cyprus’ participation in the Greek War of Independence, organised by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Earlier, he will be received by the mayor of the city, Konstantinos Zervas, at the Town Hall.

While in Thessaloniki, Anastasiades on Tuesday will attend the mass at Ayios Demetrios Church,  the patron Saint of the city, on the occasion of the saint’s day and the liberation of Thessaloniki from the Ottomans in 1912. Greek President Katerina Sakelaropoulou will also attend the mass.

On Tuesday afternoon the president will attend the official celebrations at the Aristotle University for the liberation of the city from the Ottomans during the Balkan Wars and the 1940 Greco-Italian War.
