A 31-year-old man who was arrested late on Sunday for speeding on the Limassol to Nicosia motorway did not have a Cypriot driving licence or car insurance, police said on Monday.

The man was found around 10pm driving at 186kph instead of the maximum 100kph on the motorway near Tseri.

He was arrested, while further police examinations showed the suspect was driving without a Cypriot driving licence and his car was not covered by insurance.

Police said the man was released and is expected to appear in court later on Monday.
