Drug driving arrests in Paphos

Two people, a 34-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, were found driving under the influence of drugs in Paphos, traffic police said on Thursday.

According to the Paphos police assistant director Michalis Ioannou, officers stopped a car driven by a woman, 34, a few minutes after midnight on Thursday.

After checking her relevant documents, police discovered her car was not covered by insurance.

She also tested positive to a preliminary narcotest, Ioannou said, while a search in her car did not reveal anything suspicious.

Several hours earlier, a 38-year-old driver had also tested positive to a narcotest after officers stopped his car for a check on Apostolou Pavlou avenue at around 8pm.

Nothing suspicious was found during the search in his car, Ioannou added.

Both persons gave an additional saliva sample to be analysed at the state laboratory.
