Local pub puts empty beer barrels to Christmas use

For the second year a large tree made out of beer barrels has gone up outside the Nicosia pub BR Hub.

Made from 109 empty beer kegs, the eight-storey high tree dominates the skyline on Athinon Avenue in Strovolos.

The tree was first put up last year to bring some Christmas cheer during tightening coronavirus measures. This year though with people freer to circulate it has been sponsored by the Photiades group and Leon beer.

Quite a constriction project, it took most of Friday to construct before the lights were turned on in the evening.
