Scam warnings issued by tax department and postal service

The tax department and the post office warned the public on Friday about fraudulent messages claiming to have been sent by the authorities.

The tax department warned of a text message claiming the sender is TAXISnet, informing recipients that they have received a refund and asking them to access a webpage with the address “https:/”.

These messages are not official correspondence from the tax department and recipients are asked to ignore them, it stressed.
