Thousands stolen from Limassol home

Burglars in Limassol made off with tens of thousands in money and jewellery, police said on Saturday.

The previous night, a 70-year-old woman reported that strangers broke into her home in the Moutayiaka area while she was inside, sometime between 7pm and 10pm.

Police rushed to the scene, determining that the thieves gained entry through a window which was tampered with using a sharp tool.

According to the complainant, the perpetrators stole €12,500 in cash as well as jewellery worth nearly €31,000.

Evidence collected from the scene will be used to locate the suspects, police said.
