High concentrations of dust are still present in the air on Tuesday. The dust is expected to slowly begin to recede by Friday, along with an anticipated drop in temperature leading up to the weekend.

Meanwhile, the public, particularly the elderly, children and those with respiratory conditions, are urged to avoid circulating outdoors.

Employers must take appropriate measures after assessing any risks faced by employees working in outdoors, and it is recommended that workers use appropriate protection.

The latest hourly dust concentrations measured at 7 am are as follows:

Nicosia:                           142.8  μg/m3

Limassol:                         105.9  μg/m3

Larnaca:                          145.1  μg/m3

Paralimni:                        126.8  μg/m3

Zygi:                                104.2  μg/m3

Respirable particulate matter refers to a diameter smaller than 10 μm (PM10). According to the relevant legislation, a limit value not to be exceeded is set for the daily average concentrations at 50 μg/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter).
