Limassol police on Wednesday arrested one of two suspects in a case of fraud involving a chain of restaurants.

The 38-year-old man, together with a 27-year-old woman who is still being sought, defrauded a chain of restaurants out of €33,288 by placing delivery orders online and not paying.

The case was reported by the chain manager after he discovered that a number of delivery orders had been placed through the company’s mobile app between April 20, 2021 and March 22, 2022, but were never paid for.

Police tracked the two suspects through their user IDs, determining they had managed to cheat the customer service system.

Most orders were placed in the Limassol district, with some in Paphos and Larnaca.

The 38-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and is expected to appear before Limassol district court.

Police are still seeking the 27-year-old woman.
