Man jailed for over three years for trafficking

A Limassol court on Thursday sentenced a man to three-and-a-half years in prison, having found him guilty on the charges of trafficking persons and living off the proceeds of prostitution.

The 35-year-old defendant had been arrested in July 2021.

Earlier, on June 24, 2021 police had carried out a sting operation at various apartments in Limassol. They found two women, who it later transpired were victims of trafficking forced into prostitution.

Subsequent investigations led to the suspect being identified as the trafficker in question.
