Poetry presentations and anniversary celebrations at the Home for Cooperation

h4c

Two events are taking place at the Home of Cooperation in the coming weeks. Arriving first is the presentation of the bicommunal, bilingual poetry collection Mazi/Birlikte on Friday. The publication is the result of the bicommunal translation workshop organised during the last Nicosia Book Fest in October 2021 whereby Greek and Turkish Cypriot authors translated each other’s poems.

The publication was then edited by translator and poet Maria Siakalli and is now ready to be shared with the public. At the presentation event, poets will recite their poems and translations they have prepared of other Cypriot poets in the publication.

Come May and a festive event will take place as the H4C celebrates its 11th anniversary. A special event on May 14 will feature street food from different cultures, a fun ride along old Nicosia’s roads and a musical journey with performances and DJs. The first event of the fiesta, Around Nicosia in 80 Minutes, will begin at 6pm and an hour later, a Tsiattista Poetic Duelling will take place. The Island Seeds band will have their premiere performance at 9pm followed by an afterparty with DJ Janis Plasmatik to mark the celebrations.
