Anastasiades meets President of Estonia

President Nicos Anastasiades, who is in Tallinn on an official two-day visit, met the President of Estonia Alar Karis on Thursday morning. Anastasiades was received with military honours at the presidential office, in the morning.

The Cyprus problem, Turkish provocations and the war in Ukraine were the main items on the agenda of the two leaders.

“Among other things, the two leaders discussed the current state of the Cyprus problem and the ongoing Turkish provocations, the war in Ukraine, and the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Estonia,” a press release said.

The meeting of the presidents was followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Anastasiades is accompanied by the first lady Andri Anastasiades, Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos, the Under-Secretary of the President, Kyriakos Kousios, Deputy Minister of Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos and the new Cypriot ambassador to Estonia Demetris Samuel.

The presentation of credentials by Samuel took place before Anastasiades’ meeting with Karis.

Anastasiades also met the Mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kolvart at the Town Hall and was due to attend a lunch given in his honour by the President of the Estonian Parliament Juri Ratas. In the evening he will attend an official dinner hosted by Estonia’s presidential couple.
