Two entertaining events will take place at the AG Leventis Gallery this month, inviting visitors to engage with the place in alternative manners to celebrate International Museum Day. On May 14 and 21 an interactive performance will be staged at the gallery titled A Trip Up and Down through Time. Theatre educators and actresses Loukia Pierides and Polyxeni Savva will take audiences on a journey through time in the company of mythical and unreal friends.

The guides of the performances, besides the actresses, are pencils, crayons, sounds and, of course, imagination. Through play and melodies, the performance aims to enrich the old stories that are hung on the gallery walls with magical words and sounds. Two one-hour shows will be presented each day, one at 4pm and another at 5.30pm, both suitable for adults and children as young as three.

In between the performances on International Museum Day itself, the gallery is hosting a different kind of event – a cocktail party titled The Tipsy Curator. On May 18, the public is invited to discover what paintings come alive at the museum at night. In a special party kicking off at 6.30pm, the museum’s Tipsy Curators will take guests through the museum corridors while there will also be an open bar of delicious cocktails and dancing along to the music of a DJ.
