Cabinet on Tuesday approved a new holiday scheme for people with disabilities expected to benefit some 600 individuals.

The Holiday Plan for People with Disabilities entails a subsidy of €300 to €700 to recipients of disability benefits for holidays organised by themselves according to their choices, preferences and according to the availability of approved and accessible hotels and other tourist accommodation in Cyprus, deputy government spokeswoman Niovi Parisinou said in a written statement.

The plan is expected to benefit approximately 600 individuals with disabilities per annum, along with their personal assistants and members of their family and will be implemented this year. The total additional cost for this scheme will amount to €300,000 per annum.

Cabinet also approved the provision of free breakfast and lunch to all students attending Agios Antonios Primary School in Nicosia for 2021-2022 and 2022-2023
