The Gallery 45 in Limassol, which has recently celebrated its first anniversary, is once again inviting art lovers and enthusiasts to its space in the old town to explore a new exhibition. “We are proud to present the works of Shaheer Zazai for the first time in Cyprus in an exhibition called Art Talk,” they say.

Zazai is a Cyprus-based Afghan-Canadian artist working in painting and digital media. His practice focuses on exploring and attempting to investigate the development of cultural identity in the present geopolitical climate and diaspora.

His works are produced using Microsoft Word where highlighter and text are incorporated as the main tools and palette to create each work. Zazai’s digital practice is heavily rooted in testing what happens when it exists within parameters, whether these parameters are prescribed, enforced or adopted. Each work/design is produced through improvisation that is informed by a set of rules and parameters. With every minor adjustment to the parameters, the works take a different shape and form, similar to the way humans adapt to the social, geographical and ideological circumstances of life.

Zazai’s art pieces have travelled around the globe with his most recent exhibition hosted at the Patel Brown Gallery in Toronto titled A Call Home, as well as other work that was part of the Dallas Art Fair 2022. His latest Art Talk returns to this Mediterranean island and welcomes guests until mid-July.
