Archbishop Chrysostomos shared his views on the presidential candidates in upcoming elections

The head of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos expressed his views on the candidates vying for the Cyprus presidency, in an interview with local Greek-language Politis newspaper.

The cleric stated that he does not support anyone, however he believes that after Makarios, only Nicos Christodoulides has popular support.

He also estimates that it will be difficult for Disy’s Averof Neophytou to make it to the second round, since, as he said, even his party does not support him.

“The people have now discredited the parties,” he added.

Archbishop Chrystostomos also said that opposition Akel will, in his words, “handcuff” the candidate it supports and that Akel is, as he claimed, an agent of the British.

Archbishop Chrysostomos noted that he shared his thoughts with both Andreas Mavroyiannis and Achilleas Demetriades.
