Beauty and functionality: SENS creates candles for aesthetic and purpose

ct copy 2 (1)

The warmth and aromas exuded from a burning candle are part of its aesthetics and purpose, but for SENS, it doesn’t end there. When designing the ultimate candle, SENS knew that the container is an essential visual aspect that remains important to their image of an entirely hand-crafted candle.

Candle making is not an easy skill to master, particularly if you want to offer perfection. Therefore, creating the most intense perfume on the market requires candle-making skills, the knowledge to create beautiful aromas, and the perfect way to incorporate these into the wax so that they don’t lose their intensity.

Perfecting an ancient skill

Traditions across the world have long relied on using candles thanks to the various symbolisms of the flame. For example, in mythology, we read about how the Gods of mount Olympus gave Prometheus a fire for the progress and illumination of the mortals. The meanings of a burning candle can range from remembrance to celebrations, a representation of the home, to a reminder of faith, prayer, and meditation.

Candle making is a beautiful form of art, thanks to the infinite possibilities wax presents. It can be poured, shaped, and carved into endless designs, and then adding aromas is another art entirely. Over the millennia, we have used several ingredients to create the wax required for candles – anything from melted animal fats (including whale), beeswax, fatty dried fish, and paraffin wax.

Today, we also burn candles for the beautiful warm ambiance they add to our homes and their pleasing aroma. In addition, candlemakers now have far more ingredients to work with, including eco-friendly waxes.

SENS hand crafts each candle

Michael Romero, the founder of SENS, set out to create beautiful candles to match every space. Seeing that more than half of the candles available on the market use glass, he wanted a container as hand-crafted as the rest of the candle.

The solution appeared when he managed to get samples from the beautiful ceramic vessels used for the candles. Hand-crafted ceramic vessels in six gorgeous colors to match the scented hand-poured wax have made the candles from the SENS Candle Co instantly recognizable as they stand out from every other brand.

Furthermore, SENS uses wax melts made from an eco-friendly soy wax blend, overseeing even the most minute detail to ensure that nothing on the candle is factory-made.

The aromas of SENS intense candles

SENS 01 took over a year of researching and testing before it was ready to hit the market as the SENS Candle Co’s signature fragrance. The top notes of bergamot and tobacco leaf mix amicably with the warm bottom notes of amber woods. In the middle, creating the perfect harmony, lie the fragrant notes of white santal and cocoa blossom.

In their quest for another fragrance, SENS created Sweet Oasis, a scent dedicated to the delights of reaching a secret destination after a long journey through the Arabian Desert. Citrus and berry make up the top notes of this delightful aroma, while vanilla, sandalwood, and musk give it its depth. Nestling in the middle is the lighter notes of lily and magnolia.

Caribbean Teak is an aroma that includes almond, amber, coconut, sandalwood, and the exotic tonka bean. For those who delight in the fragrance of gardenia, Night Garden lets you imagine nights out in the wild when the sweet blossom of this rare flower is in full bloom.

Other fragrances in the SENS range include Acai Berry and Dulce Lino.

Branding the most intense candles on the market

Michael Romero is not a newcomer to the world of branding and visuals. The owner of the SENS Candle Co is a professional commercial photographer with several years of experience behind him. He previously worked with the well-known jewelry brand Miansai, where he learned about the power of visuals in branding.

“I knew that the market was ready for a luxury candle brand with aesthetics and purpose,” says Romero. He continues, “However, from my previous work experience, I knew that a heavy focus on branding and visuals would help us market the most intense candle available.”

As Michael and his team soon realized, developing a candle company takes hard work and dedication. However, the initial work required to create their signature fragrance, SENS 01, made them realize how much they loved the excitement of the task they had set themselves – to create beautiful and functional candles for everyone to enjoy.
