Man jailed for 11 years for sexual abuse of partner’s child

A man was sentenced to 11 years in jail on Tuesday for sexually abusing the underage daughter of his partner for three years.

Paphos criminal court imposed concurrent prison sentences of up to 11 years on the man who on May 30 was found guilty on several charges of sexual abuse of a child and domestic violence.

The girl was nine years old when the abuse started in 2017 while it continued until May 2019, the court heard. She was the daughter of his partner, and they were living together.

In imposing the sentence, the judge considered the need for deterrence due to the rise of sexual abuse of children.
