Weather forecast: Windy, with temperatures at 33C inland

Strong westerly winds will affect Cyprus on Tuesday, but these will gradually abate overnight, the met office said in its early morning forecast.

Tuesday will be mainly fine in most areas, but partly cloudy in the west. In the afternoon, cloud that develops in the northeast may lead to isolated light showers.

Winds will be initially light to moderate, becoming moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and strong to very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort, on the south coast. At intervals, winds of 6 to 7 Beaufort are forecast.

Temperatures will rise to 33C inland, around 30C on the southeast, east and north coasts, around 28C on the remaining coasts and 24C in the higher mountains.

Tuesday night will gradually become fine with winds gradually dying down. Temperatures will fall to 22C inland, around 23C on the coasts and 18C in the higher mountains.

Wednesday and Thursday will be mainly fine with temperatures set to rise. Friday will also be mainly fine, with increased cloud at intervals after midday. Temperatures will edge up further to above the seasonal average.
