Two separate fires were set maliciously on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Pournara reception centre for asylum seekers in Kokkinotrimithia, the Fire Service said.
According to an announcement released on Wednesday, the first fire broke out near some prefabricated buildings within the centre at around 6pm on Tuesday, whereas the second one was set at 4.50am the following day.
In both cases, firefighters were dispatched to control the fires and prevent them from spreading around the camp.
However, the prefabricated buildings suffered extensive damages and will need substantial work to be completely refurbished.
Police investigating the fires believe that they were set maliciously. Investigations are ongoing.
