Man hospitalised, ex partner arrested, after assault in Livadia (Updated)

A 35-year-old man has been hospitalised after he was assaulted on Tuesday night at the apartment of his former partner in Livadia, police said on Wednesday. His condition is described as out of danger.

The woman, also aged 35 has been arrested and is due in court on Thursday.

A police spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency that police were notified at around 9.00 pm on Tuesday that there was an injured man at an apartment in Livadia.

He said that the victim had gone to the apartment of his former partner to discuss a number of ‘personal issues.’

But on arrival he was assaulted by two unknown men outside the apartment door.

He tried to escape, but the two assailants managed to stop him, struck him at various parts of his body and made off on foot.

He was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital where he underwent tests.

The victim suffered head injuries and was admitted to hospital. His condition is described as out of danger.

Police will be taking a statement from the 35-year-old on the possible motives of the assault and whether he knew the two assailants.

Police are also expected to obtain CCTV footage from the area.
