Members of the Larnaca police found a large number of firecrackers in the possession of a 15-year-old  minor, after a check on Sunday night.

The minor was spotted moving on foot shortly before 8pm on Sunday evening, carrying packages of factory firecrackers and was checked, while his father was called and arrived at the scene.

During the check it became clear that the young man had in his possession four packages with 40 factory firecrackers in each package. The 160 firecrackers in total were confiscated by the police, while the 15-year-old was arrested and taken, accompanied by his father, to the Oroklini local police station for further questioning.

The young man was charged in writing with illegal possession of explosives, and was subsequently released.
