Artists meet the people, people meet the artists. An open day in the heart of Limassol aims to bring together local creatives and the public, allowing the latter to get an inside look at artists’ work and studio spaces. The Ksoporti Art Weekend will take place on September 2, 3 and 4, transforming the old historical centre into a buzzing art ground.

“Visit a dynamic range of Limassol’s artists, galleries and art centres,” say the organisers, “as they collectively open their studios and premises for the public. This is an opportunity to meet the artists and look at their art, and visit temporary and permanent exhibitions.

“Ksoporti Art Weekend 2022,” they add, “brings together an array of contemporary art such as painting, sculpture, ceramic art and photography. All participating studios, galleries and art centres are unique in character, and reflect the diversity of the local art scene.”

The first Ksoporti event was initially an open studio art event in Limassol in 2019 when city strollers followed a carefully tailored map to spot the different studios, like a kind of artsy treasure hunt. Ksoporti 2022 follows in its footsteps and aims to promote greater collaboration and offer a more complete image of Limassol’s art scene.

The participating institutions this year are: The Edit Gallery, Morfi Gallery, Gallery 45, the Cornaro Fine Arts Centre, and 6×6 Centre for Photography. Along with these institutions, the artists who will be opening their studios are: Elena Antoniou, Andri Aristidou, Constantinos Constantinides, Spyros Demetriades, Andros Efstathiou, Andrea Evangelou, Tea Hadjikyriacou, Giorgos Heracleous, Sotiris Ioannides, Anna Ioannou, Andreas Kattos, Maria Kyprianou, Maria Maglyovanna, Popi Mouskatou, Opsis, OTTO, Panicos Spanos, Maria Stamati, Vito Xenodochides, and YETI YETI.

A map on www.ksoporti.com shows the locations of all of the participants plus further information about the weekend.

The art event will take place in the city centre of Limassol, between 5pm and 10pm on all days, and will wrap up with a closing party with music and a pop-up bar at EKA’s parking space on September 4 where artists, gallery owners and art lovers can meet and mingle one more time!
