National guard accidentally sets fire to fifty hectares of land

According to a fire service announcement, a fire caused by the national guard on Monday destroyed fifty hectares of land. The fire, which broke out around 2 pm at the Kalo Chorio shooting range, was accidentally set during an exercise.

Fifty hectares of land with dry grass and wild vegetation were burned and three crews of firemen in three vehicles from the Larnaca fire station were needed to extinguish the blaze.

The fire service managed to bring the fire under full control by 7:30 pm.
