Awards to mark World Animal Day

The Agriculture Ministry announced on Monday that they would be launching the National Animal Welfare Awards, in honour of World Animal Day celebrated on October 4 every year.

According to the ministry, the awards’ goal is to recognise people and organisations making significant contributions to animal welfare in Cyprus.

This year’s awards will be given out for: Animal Welfare Project, Animal Species Preservation, Outstanding Service or Rescue by an animal, Outstanding Educational Service.

People or organisations working in Cyprus can apply by December 1, 2022, for consideration at [email protected].  For the outstanding service or rescue by an animal, the owner can apply on behalf of the animal.

Each application will have to be accompanied by a one-page description of the action and photographs.

Winners will be announced at the beginning of January 2023.
