Music that spans Latin Jazz to Vocal Jazz in one weekend at Sarah’s Jazz Club

A celebration of live music and local talent will once more be held at the popular music venue Sarah’s Jazz Club as it welcomes two diverse groups whose members span the musical genres of homegrown Latin rhythms and romantic vocal jazz.

On Friday, the young jazz singer Styliani Pitsillou will debut at Sarah’s Jazz Club, launching the weekend’s performances. The 21-year-old vocalist is studying performance with a specialisation in jazz. As well as her specialised genre, she will give audiences an exciting set packed with funk, soul and RnB classics. “Jazz for me is the music of expression, romance and listening to subtle emotions,” she said. Accompanying her on stage are the musicians Alexandros Komodromou, Filios Petrou and Francesco Di Lenge.

Another first will take place at the Jazz Club on Saturday as Dan Costa and Alexis Kasinos perform together for the first time. The duo will perform two different jazz sets. They’ll include classics from the American songbook and original material from Portuguese-Italian pianist Costa and guitarist Kasinos.

The following weekend will continue the jazzy series by welcoming back to the club a group of established musicians. The Working Quartet will take the floor on October 14 for an evening of jazz classics and improv. Then on the next night, another four musicians will perform live, the Kalopedis Quartet. George Kalopedis leads the jazz band with his signature spirited vocals while Loukas Loukas is on piano, backed by the tuned-in, skilful rhythms from drummer Kris Grecian and double bassist Costas Challoumas.
