UClan and state working together on science

Health promotion and environment protection are among the goals of the cooperation between UCLan Cyprus University and the general state chemical laboratory.

The two bodies have recently signed a protocol of cooperation with the aim to develop technological and scientific cooperation in areas of common interest including chemistry, microbiology/biology of food, water, environment, consumer products, environment and health, food risk assessment, among others.

On behalf of the University of UClan Cyprus, the protocol was signed by Irene Polycarpou, interim rector of the university and on behalf of the state chemistry department, Dr Stelios Giannopoulos.

“The cooperation between the two organisations sets the basis for the creation of innovative actions and is expected to enhance and strengthen their existing projects,” said Polycarpou.

Dr Koulla Parpa, coordinator of sports science, expressed her satisfaction for the cooperation of the state with the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of UClan.

This will contribute to promote “health and the protection of the environment and the consumer, while promoting the work of the two organisations” she said.
