The Cyprus Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators is, for a second year, organising the Graphic & Illustration Design conference, GRID, this December, this year putting the Creative Process in the spotlight.

The association, founded in 2016, is the official network of industry professionals in Cyprus who are either employed as or teachers of graphics and/or illustrations. They often organise industry-related events and one of their biggest annual happenings is this one coming up.

Taking place between December 9, 10 and 11 at the University of Nicosia, the association has prepared a full programme for anyone interested in creative design, whether from the graphic design or illustration point of view. Screenings, talks, presentations and specialised workshops make up the three-day conference and are, of course, accompanied by networking drinks, welcoming coffee and a dinner.

Friday evening is dedicated to the documentary screening No Politica, while on Saturday the audience will have the opportunity to attend several talks and presentations by eight different speakers from Cyprus and Greece. On Sunday, a graphic design workshop and an illustration seminar will take place, both under the umbrella theme of the Creative Process, covering all the aspects of the subject.

The association, whose main goal is the upgrade and further education in graphic and illustration design, approached the eight creative designers coming from different fields and asked them the following questions:

“How do great artists and designers come up with their brightest ideas and what is the process they follow to bring these ideas to life? Do contemporary reality and new technologies affect the creative process? Is the way designers think and create changing?”

These are the questions that for three days the speakers and the audience will explore.
