Xmas Street Fest coming to Engomi

xmas

As Christmas day draws closer, more and more festive events are popping up across the island, sprinkling holiday spirit in every corner. Engomi municipality and the Mall of Engomi are joining in the festivities with their own one-day fiesta. The Xmas Street Fest will take over a section of October 28th Avenue, right in front of the mall this Saturday 10 with Christmas fun for all.

From 11am to 7pm, dozens of performances will entertain the crowds as choirs, dance ensembles and musicians take the floor. Magic shows, a Christmas crafts corner for children, fire show, stilt walkers and a candy flower show will be on throughout the day for young and old to enjoy. Little visitors will also get the chance to ride the carousel, jump on the bouncing castle and do some face-painting while nearly 20 performing acts take the stage.

The event will close with fireworks and the lighting of the Christmas tree by the mayor of Engomi, Zacharias Kyriakou, and the director of the Mall of Engomi, Kypros Hadjistilles.

“Christmas is a time when we all express our love towards our fellow citizens,” say the organisers. “For this reason, Christmas markets from charity organisations will operate at the event site. We will also be joined by the animal welfare organisation Simba Animal Aid Cyprus, while the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will be offering free Christmas gift wrapping.”
