Three people have been arrested in connection with a sword attack on two other men by a gang of eight in total at a Paphos apartment complex on December 5, police said on Sunday.

Two of the suspects are aged 25 and the third is 30.
Around 11 pm on Monday police received information about a commotion at an apartment building on Danais Avenue.

They were told that around 10 pm eight people had arrived at the apartment and knocked on the door, which was opened by the tenants.

According to the six tenants, two of the visitors held pistols, others swords and sticks. The men proceeded to assault the tenants, targeting one 20-year-old whom they succeeded in stabbing on the shoulder blade with a sword. A second tenant, aged 24, also suffered a sword wound to the palm of his hand.

Subsequently, the eight assailants stole two mobile phones worth €600, and €500 in cash, and left.

The injured tenants were taken to the Paphos general hospital A&E where they were treated and discharged.

For the same case, two 26-year-olds were arrested on December 7, one of whom was released, while the other is still on remand.
