Festive bazaars, performances and pop-ups are booming this season and one more Christmas workshop is coming up in Nicosia, with a chocolate twist that is all about the dark, sweet and heavenly delight.
The ChocoLab: Chocolate Numeric Control workshop is a one-day event at Thinker Maker Space in collaboration with pastry chef Pantelis Vakkou. On the afternoon of December 20, from 6pm and 9pm, adults and children are invited to dive into the world of chocolate and make their own chocolate creations. Under the guidance of the pastry chef, participants will experiment with digital fabrication methods to create chocolate masterpieces.
Held at the downtown Nicosia venue, the workshop will include three separate activities. The first will have participants making their own chocolate bars. Pantelis will guide them through the chocolate-making process and using custom-mould designs they will learn how to make their own chocolate, which will be then nicely packaged to be taken home.
The afternoon will continue with 3D printing experimentation with chocolate. A team of technicians has been experimenting with the process of turning the Thinker Maker Space’s 3D printer into a chocolate printer and as such, the Chocolate printer will be printing live in the exhibition area of TMS throughout the day where participants will be able to watch the process and the outcomes.
Finally, the workshop will explore whether laser cutters can cut chocolate. “Laser cutters have the ability to cut beautiful chocolate creations that look delicate and precise in a short time,” say the organisers. “On Tuesday 20 we are going to experiment with the method of laser cutting chocolate into Modular chocolate pieces that you can put together to create your own 3D chocolate sculptures!”
