President Nicos

welcomed the bands for Christmas carols of the Eldyk (Greek forces), the national guard and the police force at the presidential palace.

He wished them on Friday a merry Christmas and a happy new year as he expressed the hope that the much-desired freedom of Cyprus will be realised.

Anastasiades noted that it will be his final such service as his ten year term in office comes to an end in March, after the elections which are due to be held in February.
