Urgent food appeal for animal shelters

The Green Party on Wednesday urged people to donate everything they can to volunteer organisations caring for stray cats and dogs.

In a statement, the party said shelters all over Cyprus are in dire need of help as “they have now reached the brink of financial destitution”.

“We ask animal lovers in Cyprus to help as many volunteers and shelters as possible and by extension all cats and dogs, stray souls begging for some food,” the statement said.

“Even the smallest contribution of food counts. Let us not forget that in order to call ourselves civilised people we must also show respect for animals.”

Donations will be collected at the offices of the Green Party until January 10, open daily from 8am to 4pm.
