CABS helped arrest 105 poachers

Ëáèñïêõíçãïß ôïõ 2022

The Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) praised its work for 2022 as it contributed to the arrest of 105 poachers, according to their announcement.

They stated that three arrests were made in the final days of the year, two of whom were found with illegal sound emitting devices to lure in birds.

Members of the game and fauna service were present during that operation, while the third poacher was previously known to CABS for having used the device in the past.

CABS claimed, however, that wardens of the game and fauna service took one hour to arrive after the incident had been reported.

CABS stated that other poachers managed to flee the area but that another suspect stayed and changed the tune of the sound device to that of a more protected species. He is then accused of subsequently shooting birds of that species which carries a fine of up to €2,500.
