Two men, aged 30 and 31, who were arrested over violent incidents during a football match this week, have been charged in writing, police said on Saturday.

The case concerns a fight among football fans at the Ael – Apollon derby at the Alfamega stadium in Limassol on Wednesday.

Media reported that a few minutes after the end of the first half, fans of both teams started throwing chairs to the opposing stands. Police intervened and broke up the fight but the second half was delayed ten minutes.

The 30-year-old was identified on Friday through CCTV footage while the older suspect was identified after police published photos of the people wanted.

Over ten suspects remain wanted for the case.
