Part of the false ceiling at Nicosia General collapsed in a room without injuring anyone, the state health services organisation (Okypy) said on Monday.

The organisation said that the ceiling fell due to a leak.

Okypy added that patients were transferred to other rooms and support teams were called in to take care of the issue.

Works to fix the ceiling’s insulation are underway but had stopped in previous days due to the rain.

Okypy apologised for the incident, and they said that they are working on fixing the damage.
