Hermes Airports, the consortium that manages and controls the island’s two International Airports, on Tuesday released a statement welcoming Jazeera Airways to Cyprus.

Jazeera Airways, a low-cost carrier based in Kuwait, recently added Larnaca to its network of new European destinations for the 2023 summer season.

The announcement noted that the airline was founded in 2004 and serves more than 50 destinations across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, as well as Europe, and operates a fleet of modern Airbus A320 and A320neo aircraft. It added that Jazeera Airways offers a range of travel classes, including Business Class and Economy Class.

With flights launching on April 29, 2023, Jazeera Airways will now connect Kuwait with Cyprus.

The announcement noted that flights to Larnaca will operate twice weekly, from April 29 until May 27, 2023, and three times a week, from May 29 until October 28, 2023.

Maria Kouroupi, Senior Manager of Aviation Development and Communication at Hermes Airports, stated that the company is “very pleased to see a new airline and a new route being added to the Cyprus network”.

“Flights from Kuwait with Jazeera Airways will resume after many decades and will give travellers from Cyprus more options to explore the captivating destination of Kuwait and the wider Western Asia region,” Kouroupi said.

“At the same time, we look forward to welcoming the people of Kuwait and work with the airline to make this flight a year-round operation,” she added.

On his part, Rohit Ramachandran, the Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways stated that the company is pleased to add Larnaca to its growing list of European destinations for the upcoming summer season.

“This provides travellers from Kuwait another holiday destination that is a short, affordable flight away,” he said.

“With the addition of Larnaca, we now proudly serve 63 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Central & South Asia and Africa,” Ramachandran added.

Nikos Grylos, the Chief Executive Officer of Skyserv Cyprus, said that the company is “thrilled to welcome Jazeera Airways in Cyprus and is looking forward to a fruitful collaboration that will add even more value to Larnaca and Hermes Airports”.

“As a company, we at Skyserv feel proud, because our presence and operations have contributed, with concrete facts, to rendering handling services more competitive, allowing more airline companies to enter the market and include Cyprus among their destinations,” Grylos stated.

“Thus, we remain committed to strengthening the potential of the country as a dynamic travel destination offering our customers the best handling experience,” he concluded.
