Man fined €4,500 for tobacco smuggling

Limassol police on Tuesday issued a hefty fine to a 30-year-old man for possession of duty-free tobacco products.

According to police statement, around 9 pm police stopped the man’s vehicle for a check, and found 136 packs of cigarettes, a box of heated cigarettes, 133 packs of manufactured tobacco in the car.

Police informed the customs department who established that the goods were duty-free.

Authorities confiscated the tobacco products and issued a €4,500 out-of-court fine.
