Police on Tuesday are investigating the circumstances that led to a serious road collision in Larnaca which resulted in three people being hospitalised.

The accident happened on Monday around 5.50 pm on a road parallel to the highway near Larnaca airport where two cars collided head-on.

The driver of one car was a 58-year-old man, while the second was a 24-year-old woman with a 19-year-old passenger, all from Larnaca district.

The three occupants of the vehicles were taken by ambulance to the Larnaca general hospital and from there, due to the severity of their injuries, they were transferred to Nicosia.

The 24-year-old is intubated, the 19-year-old has a fractured vertebra, and the 58-year-old is hospitalised with multiple injuries. According to the treating doctors, their conditions are considered serious.

Kiti police are continuing the investigations into the exact causes of the collision.
