The government will make full use of recommendations by the Group of States against Corruption (Grec), according to an official statement on Tuesday.

The recommendations by the EU body on Cyprus address the matter of effective compliance and achieving maximum transparency and integrity in the exercise of executive power, the announcement said.

Greco’s work began on Monday, in Strasbourg, where the draft of an evaluation report on Cyprus was presented, entitled “Preventing Corruption and Promoting Integrity in Central Governments and Law Enforcement Bodies.”

“The government notes with particular satisfaction that several of Greco’s preliminary recommendations are consistent with the policies of the governance programme of President Nikos Christodoulides, while some of them are already being put into motion by the government as a priority,” the presidency stated.

Cyprus was represented at the meeting by Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki.
