Police in Paphos arrested two drivers under the influence of drugs on Thursday afternoon.

According to police spokesman and CID chief Michalis Nikolaou, shortly after 7pm officers of the crime prevention unit stopped a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man in Chlorakas. He was found to be driving without a licence or insurance and the vehicle was listed as immobilised.

During a body search, the suspect was found in possession of a crystalline substance, resembling methamphetamine, and also tested positive in a drug test. Samples were sent for laboratory verification by state services. The drug squad took over further proceedings while the vehicle was impounded.

Also on Thursday afternoon, Paphos traffic police stopped a car driven by a 34-year-old man, who was found to be in possession of cannabis.

The 34-year-old underwent a drug test with a positive result. A sample from the suspects was also sent to the state laboratories for confirmation.
