Ksoporti At Foundation organises the exhibition of two of its members, the abstract artists George Heracleous and Vito Xenodochides, titled Mending the Wounds. Following the horrific incident that unfolded on April 10, when the artists’ shared studio was brutally broken into, this exhibition symbolises a remarkable journey of rebirth and transformation. The event will open on Friday and will take place at the artists’ studio in Limassol.

During the break-in, a trespasser callously slashed and destroyed 35 of Xenodochides’ canvases, some of which held immense sentimental value, having been created over a span of 15 years. Additionally, the assailant damaged five of Heracleous’ new paintings. The violation struck a chord with the public, drawing significant attention from the media and the art community at large.

In the aftermath of this harrowing experience, Heracleous and Xenodochides embarked on a powerful process of healing. They made the courageous decision to mend the damaged paintings by delicately sewing them with vibrant, colourful strings. This act breathed new life into the once-devastated artworks, serving as a testament to the artists’ resilience and their unwavering commitment to their craft.

Mending the Wounds is a non-commercial exhibition. Its purpose is to stand as a tribute to the immense importance of art and its profound contribution to society. In extension, it goes beyond a simple exhibition in that it aspires to encapsulate the artists’ determination to overcome adversity and forge ahead, embracing the future with renewed creativity.
