Man admits to import of 16 kilos cannabis at Paphos court

A 55-year-old man admitted to illegal drug trafficking charges he is facing before the Paphos Criminal Court on Thursday.

Specifically, the man was charged with importing through Paphos airport 16 kg of cannabis.

A second person accused in the case, a 38-year-old woman, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

The large amount of drugs was detected by members of airport police, the anti-drug unit and the customs department in a coordinated effort, based on information received by the security authorities on July 9.

The two persons who had arrived from a European country, were found to be transporting just under16.3 kg of cannabis, packed into plastic packages. A cash sum of €750 was also found in their possession.
