A total of 27 Turkish Cypriots were evacuated from Gaza into Egypt via the Rafah border crossing on Sunday, according to the north’s ‘foreign ministry’.

All 27 are expected to board a flight from Cairo to Istanbul on Monday evening.

The news comes after seven Turkish Cypriots arrived in Istanbul on Sunday, having been evacuated from Gaza on Saturday.

The north’s ‘foreign ministry’ said it is “continuing to work for the safe evacuation” of Turkish Cypriots in Gaza and the region.

It added, “we are continuing our cooperation with the authorities of the Republic of Turkey to ensure our remaining citizens in conflict zones are evacuated from the region safely and as soon as possible.”
