Demolition work began on Saturday at Kythrea’s health centre, after the building was deemed unsafe during earthquake proofing checks.

Speaking at the commencement of demolition works, the north’s ‘health minister’ Hakan Dincyurek said a new health centre would be built from scratch in Kythrea, with the aim of such a health centre being operational within the first three months of next year.

He said the project would cost 18 million TL (€569,594), and added “we will create a health centre which will serve the people of the region for many years.”
