President Nikos Christodoulides departs for Dubai on Thursday, to attend the UN COP28 climate summit.

The president will address the effects of climate change in Cyprus as well as in the Eastern Mediterranean, an area that will be greatly affected by climate change, Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis said.

The action plan to mitigate these effects will also be discussed “within the Cyprus initiative on climate change presented on the sidelines of last year’s COP27 Summit,” the government spokesman said.

President Christodoulides is expected to meet with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the context of his visit, according to Cypriot Ambassador to the UAE, Meropi Christofi, to discuss the cooperation between Cyprus and the Emirates on issues of trade, economy, energy, artificial intelligence and the e-governance.
