Woman arrested trying to bring meth into Polis holding cell

A 24-year-old woman was arrested, suspected of attempting to deliver drugs to a man in a holding cell in Paphos, police said on Sunday.

According to Paphos police chief Michalis Nikolaou, the woman had been caught on Saturday, when she went to the Polis Chrysochou holding cells to visit a 31-year-old, who is being held in relation to family abuse charges.

During a check on items she attempted to deliver to the man, around 0.3g of crystal meth was found in a shampoo bottle she was trying to bring in to the cells.

The police said that upon further investigations, the woman also turned over 0.2g of crystal meth that she had hidden in her undergarments.

During questioning, the 24-year-old said she received the drugs hidden in her bra from a 34-year-old woman, and she claimed to have used some of the drugs found on her.

Regarding the drugs found in the items that she was carrying, the woman 24-year-old denied any involvement in knowingly transporting them, saying that she received the items from the 34-year-old without knowing what was in them.

The 31-year-old man was also questioned, and he denied any involvement.

An arrest warrant was issued for the 34-year-old woman on Saturday, and she was placed on a stop list.
