A new initiative by Bank of Cyprus’ (BoC’s) SupportCY network is bidding to ease a child’s fraught ambulance ride or admission to the Accident & Emergency Department, via the giving out of dozens of support teddies.
Each stuffed bear is designed to make a child’s difficult experience as painless as possible, allowing them to feel a little more comfortable, while distracting them from distress in order to feel calmer.
BoC Corporate Social Responsibility manager Elli Ioannidou, Accident & Emergency Department chief Dr Savvas Savva, Dr Panagiota Siakou, Okypy Ambulance Service director Riana Constantinou, and, of course, SupportCY’s Santa Claus, attended a simple ceremony on December 18, 2023, at which support teddies in the form of “Joy”, SupportCY’s beloved white bear, were handed over.
The support bears were given to the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services (Okypy), Nicosia General Hospital’s Children’s Accident & Emergency Department, and Larnaca General Hospital’s Accident & Emergency Department.
As part of the #XmasJoyBySupportCY campaign, many Christmas actions have already taken place, with more planned for this week, culminating on December 22 and 23.
More information about SupportCY’s festive programmes can be found on the SupportCY Facebook page.
