Christmas weekend is here and it is bound to be a good one, not just because there are two public holidays next week making this a very long weekend, but also because there is, once again, lots to do!

Friday night in Nicosia will commence with an immersive theatre experience about love. Performer and theatre maker Natalia Panagiotou presents her new body of work in English La Patronne: The Female Boss in French at Entos twn Texnwn. The show is an interactive performance which invites audience participation and promises to create a mysterious and humorous atmosphere.

Also happening in Nicosia tomorrow is a jazz night with plenty of Parisian flair. Vanessa Megalemou and Vasilis Vourvopoulos will present a voice and piano performance titled A Voyage à Paris for Christmas at Sarah’s Jazz Club, celebrating the festive season with classic French songs.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the ultimate Christmas ballet will be presented on the stage of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. Bringing to life The Nutcracker, the Nicosia Youth Ballet and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra will collaborate once again, filling the theatre with young talent (250 performers to be exact) that will perform one of the most well-known festive fairy tales by Tchaikovsky.

In Limassol, the MET Live in HD programme will bring Mexican composer Daniel Catán’s 1996 opera to the screen of the Rialto Theatre. Florencia en el Amazonas will be broadcast live on Saturday evening at 7.55pm in its original Spanish focusing on an opera diva Florencia Grimaldi, who returns to her native Brazil to perform and to search for her lost lover, who has vanished into the jungle. The production features a remarkable cast and will include subtitles in English.

Music nights will also take place in Limassol and Larnaca this weekend. Speak In Whispers will perform at Savino Larnaca on Saturday bringing a dark and cryptic atmosphere to the bar with their music. OnTour will present a Pre-Christmas Show at Ravens Music Hall Limassol on Saturday for a festive and dance-filled repertoire that will keep audiences entertained all night long before the big Christmas day!
