Man arrested after Nicosia car chase

A man was arrested for drug possession on Tuesday, following a police chase from Dali to Tseri, authorities said.

According to police, at around 9am on Tuesday morning, the police were informed that a suspicious person was in the Dali area and a description of him and a description of the vehicle he was moving in were given.

Officers rushed to the area and after spotting the suspected driver, they signalled him to stop, however the driver attempted to flee.

Police had to fire warning shots at the man’s vehicle. However, the man did not stop his car and continued to attempt to flee.

Police chased the suspect to Tseri, where they were able to stop him. During checks on the vehicle, police found a small number of drugs, a knife, and burglary tools in his possession.

The man was arrested.
